How to enable a Netgear firewall?

Mostly Netgear routers come with an inbuilt feature i.e. firewall which protects the network from every attack. However, these firewall in some cases, prevent some applications or programs from accessing the internet. At that point in time, you can disable it through the router’s setting.

• First of all, go to the start menu and click on All Programs->Accessories->Run. 
• Then type cmd.exe into the run dialog box and press enter to open the command prompt.
• Then command prompt window will open up in which you have to type ‘ipconfig’ and press enter key. Then enter the set of numbers next to ‘default gateway’ into the address bar of an internet browser and press enter key and you will be directed to the setup page. You don’t have to close the command prompt. 
• Now type the router’s name and password you have provided at the time of setting it up and click on OK button. Then go to the ‘Security’ tab and then click on ‘Firewall rules’.
• After that, you have to click on ‘Add’ button located under the ‘inbound services’ section to make a new rule.
• Then open the drop-down menu next to ‘service’ and select Any from the menu and then click on ‘Allow always’ next to ‘Action’.
• Now type the IP address in the ‘send to LAN server’ field and you can return back to the command prompt to check the IP address if you are not sure. 
• Then leave the remaining settings as it is and hit on Apply and return to the Firewall page. Now click on the box next to the new rules which you have created and then click the ‘Enable’ button. 
• Now restart your system or your internet connection for the changes to take effect.
